We enjoy maple dumplings in the sugarhouse during the sugaring season. It’s a yearly tradition and a favorite treat that all of my family looks forward to every year. I’m not sure if it’s the dumplings or that Armande, a very dear family friend visits to make them herself. Either way, this is a special day of the year for our family.
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup milk
Golden Delicate Taste/Fancy or Amber Rich Taste/Table Syrup
Mix egg, flour, baking powder and milk. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling syrup.
Leftover syrup from the maple dumplings can be frozen. Since its been boiled add a little water and stir well before freezing. The syrup can then be used for cooking like the Maple Pudding Cake recipe.
